Car idles fine, one can even rev it up to 2500 rpm's, but one has to press very lightly on the accelerator. However, if one presses hard, trying to floor it, it stalls and dies.

I can then idle it for a few more minutes, but sometimes after flooring it, it dies and it won't run again, until a few hours later.

'89 csi automatic. the car belongs to my friend and I own an 85 csi. we have swapped all the fuel system parts other then the throttle sensor. they have different connectors.
My 85 runs fine with the 89 parts. But the 89 does not run at all after it has been floored.

We have swapped: pressure regulator, idle valve, air flow meter. Except for the throttle sensor...

Could that sensor cause it to not run after it has idle for a few minutes?
