After giving the first service to my 2012 F25 20d, my mechanic strongly recommended for service intervals of 6,000 miles (converted from 10,000 km). He stressed that this is particularly important for diesel engines. Does it make sense?
I care about the car and want to keep it in good shape for years, but each minimal service of DPF oil, oil filter and air filter is a matter of $330 in my country (more if I go to BMW service center).
The iDrive display makes no sense about the service so I ignore it. I drive 10,000 miles per year, what would you consider the optimal service intervals please?

Own diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0. Jeep recommends service 10K miles. Number of jeep owners, on Jeep forum have had oil tested from Blackstone labs after 10K miles.
All oil tests come back, oil still good for thousands of more miles.
BMW diesel motor should have same results as Jeep Diesel.
