6WB Retrofit - Coding Required

I finally got around to installing my 6WB MFID Instrument Cluster. :D

Since mine was a brand new virgin Kombi, no EEPROM work was necessary to blank the donor car's mileage and VIN. Install was a breeze, and Coding was just a matter of adding 6WB to the VO, changing VO Production date to 1211, and VO Coding DKombi and HU_CIC.

Since my car does not have ECO Pro, I get just the Comfort and Sport mode displays.

Upgrading from the basic Kombi to either 6WA or 6WB is a dramatic improvement, and worth every penny. If I already had 6WA though, I personally would stick with it rather than invest in 6WB.

Hi everyone. I just got fitted 6BW to my 2014 F31.
So everything works good, except one thing. When I start route in my navigation, and dashboard shows directions arrows a strange glitch appears. And won't go away until I stop my navigation route.
Any idea how to solve that?

Thanks

If you have HUD, try turning it on.

Hi guys, just registered in order to get some help here...
So

I've bought a used 6wa for my diesel F30.
As I had bad luck with my chinese programmer I had to ask someone to virginize the cluster.
The cluster showed 0km and an empty VIN.

I did the install with the new MOST Y cable and coded it to the car.
As it still showed 0km (but NO RED DOT) I decided to flash the kombi to see if that would sync the mileage.

Coding and flashing went well, I also coded the other modules of the car with 6wa on the FA. However the mileage still counted from 0 (right now 17km) and NO RED DOT.

So I decided to check with ISTA and ALL MODULES thins this is the correct mileage. DME thinks the car has 17km and the gearbox think that the car has 17km.
I havent touched those modules besides coding with an FA with 6WA. I don't even think I would be able to change the mileage on that modules with Esys even if I wanted to.

If I install and code the old cluster back I get the 250xxxkm also without the red dot. Reading with ISTA shows 205xxxkm on the other modules then.
Reinstalling the 6WA and everything goes back to 17km.

So how can I get my real mileage back again? The service indicator seem confused, the CIC knows that I have an oil change in 1300km and that's accurate but it also thinks I should have had an inspection 160.000km ago

If I drive some more will it eventually sync the the CAS and DME?

I just want my mileage back.

Thanks.

ISTA thinks it has 17km

No errors in all modules

DME thinks it has 17kms

Gearbox (I think?) also agress with 17kms

Cluster shows my VIN so it has been coded correctly

CIC knows about the oil change

But CIC is confused about old service history.

Hey guys, I know this is an old thread but hoping that someone can steer me in the right direction. Also posted on g30 bimmerpost forums as well.

I am in the middle of this retrofit myself for my G30 530e. I bought a 6WB online and it appears to be from a G11 or G12 7-series (P/N 62108782630).

I am using e-sys 3.40 with v.4.36.12_PSdZData_Lite. I installed the 6WB, then I successfully was able to change the VO/FA and add 6WB, calculate FA and write FA.

Since I have 6WA standard, I already had DKOMBI2. After I read the ECUs, I then coded HU-NBT and DKOMBI2 with the new FA. The HU went fine but I received an error with DKOMBI2 that the CAFD file was not found.

I then highlighted DKOMBI2 and clicked Detect CAF for SWE, but none of the CAFD were anywhere close to my current I-step. I coded a few of them and the kombi seems to work correctly except for the service information and the fuel tank.

I received errors that the fuel tank is reading empty but I have a full tank. Luckily I have a 530e with full battery, so I would be able to drive the car, but what settings may I have missed for the fuel tank? Once that is fixed, everything should work fine I think. Any ideas? Do I have to find the settings with the stock 6WA for the fuel tank and match them up for the 6WB? The 6WB came from EU so everything is in KPH and I'm sure I can change that in iDrive, but the fuel tank issue has me guessing.

Any advice would be great!

What car is this in? Is 6WB used valid part number for your car per ETK? Not all 6wb are the same, in some, HUD is part of KOMBI and in others HUD is a standalone unit with its own coding.

Guys, i've succesfully upgraded my 6wa to 6wb on my F31. VO coding went well. Also, navi and time issue. However, there are two problems which I can't find the answer to in this forum:

1. after turning off and closing the car I step into the car again and the 6wb cluser won't change theme any more with change of drive mode. Recoding didn't do anything. Just starting the car is enough for the 6wb to change to comfort permanently.
2. On my NBT the service history is available, but he service intervals are gone. And not able to reset any more.

Is there anyone with ideas how to solve these problems?

In addition a video of the situation straight after recoding.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the EEPROM Chip in 6WB. If it is an older 160DOWT, R270 should work. If it's a newer 35160WT, not possible.

Guess is that kombi is from around 2015 - will check the chip (y)

Will,- if chip is 160DOWT,- a fresh BIN be the best or just FF/zero out the VIN ? Or like burger vs pizza :)
If older 160DOWT, you should be able to just blank Mileage and VIN with R270.

I am currently replacing on my F10 (08/2011) factory 6WA cluster with used 6WB cluster.

I desoldered 160DOWT chip and replaced donor car 2x short VIN-s wih FF-s (used R270 programmer), mileage was lower on cluster than my cars mielage, so I didnt touch that.
Installed 6WB on the car and coded DKOMBI (there is only one CAFD version available, when doing „Detect CAFD for SWE“), but tamper dot was lit up and service information was unavailable.

So I used SOIC 8 clip connector with Carprog2 programmer and replaced donor car 1x sort VIN and 1x long VIN on 95320WT and on 160DOWT zeroed out mileage. After that, when coding DKOMBI, 160DOWT accpets my car VIN, but 95320WT wont take it. So when coding 6WB, DKOMBI wont take CAFD file and cluster needels wont work and I get bunch of errors on cluster and on CIC screen. ISTA+ shows mileage and VIN mismatch errors. So my only option is flash 6WB DKOMBI module (my F10 current I-Step is from 2019) and here are some questions I need to know before I start flashing process:

1. Should E-Sys options „Update VCM after TAL execution“ and „Update MSM after TAL execution“ activated (ticked) or not for flashing;
2. On 160DOWT and 95320WT, should VIN-s erased (replaced with FF-s) or can I leave my car VIN-s on those EEPROM-s (currently I wrote on 95320WT my car VIN-s);
3. When doing SVT and TAL calculations, should I use my car original factory VO/FA where only 6WB is added or can I use VO/FA where other retrofits also are added (like 248, 6FL etc);
4. When doing SVT and TAL calculations, should I use my car original Zeitkriterium 0711 or use newer verison like 0712 (or 0714 witch is donor car Zeitkriterium, I believe);
5. Should I remove MMI for flashing process, which is currently installed between CIC module and CID screen (MOST connector is not connected thru MMI thou).

I really appreciate, when I get help with these questions.

EDIT:
So I took another try with 160DOWT and 95320 original EEPROM dumps, replaced donor car VIN-s with my car VIN-is,
just in case soldered those EEPROMs pins on cluster PCB, then coded CIC and 6WB (changed Zeitkriterium to 0312) and this time all went well,
cluster accepted CAFD faile, there is no tamper dot and service information is also available when turning ignition on.

Hi, I recently just successfully retrofitted a 6WB to my 2017 F30 340i LCI and I think it’s the nuts!

However I have a couple of questions I am hoping someone can shed some light on!

1. In some videos I have seen different options on the idrive under instrument cluster and I appear to be missing one called “Additional Indicators” which can turn on and off the additional display under the Speedo and tachometer which currently displays the range and the efficient dynamics info. Everything else I seem to have.

2. How do you enable the shift indicator point option?

Would anyone happen to know which coding options these requires to enable them?

The Additional Indicators option can be seen in this video at 9:38.

Edit: I've also just noticed the menu is called "Instrument panel" in the video example but mine is called "Instrument cluster"... is this due to a different headunit type or something? NBT vs NBT Evo ?

Update on this... I managed to work out what is going on here.

You get different menu options available to you depenidng on the option MFID_KOMBI_VARIANT if it is set to aktiv then you will see no option for "additional indicators" in the list but you will see the options for Magnification etc.

If you set MFID_KOMBI_VARIANT to nicht_aktiv then you will again see some different options e.g. "additional indicators" but you wont see the option for maginication etc. and looks like the original menu list I had when my 6WA was installed.

These menu items also seem to be controlled individually by LOUPE_TACHO_KOMBI (Magnifying Tacho) and CALMING_KOMBI (Additional Indicators) but only appear in the relevant menu mode.

There doesnt seem to be a way to actually have both enabled in the same set of menu options even though they both seem to work with the 6WB so I guess its a matter of preference of which menu options you are most likely to use.

Anyway, hope that helps someone or if anyone knows a way of enabling both let me know!
