Does anyone know that if you have the factory sport seats on a E34 540i 6-speed does it carry a separate power swtich for the front head rests? If so where is the switch located? Are they power to begin with? Can't seem to get them to go down.

Not sure if your seat is like mine. I have a '95 525i, but the aft switch has an up and down on it. You should be able to hear the motor running if you have powered headrests. The headrest is a pretty common failure point as the cable comes disconnected from the motor due to stretch. Easy to fix too, check out these links:
