rigged up an awning

Hey Rip -

I rigged up an awning using a $10 Home Depot tarp (with grommets), a couple of pier footings (I recommend the 12" - I used 10" and they need help) and a couple of 2x2's. I already had hooks, nuts, bolts and screws.

that is awesome, something i've often considered, seeing as how my father cut down all the branches (prune job from hell. not my dad, but his lawn guy actually) from the big tree in front of his house. when i move to houston i'll be living in a high rise (thank god) and have no idea how i'll wash my car

Using the garage opening helps a lot

I've got hooks screwed into the garage door frame which really helps support it. If you're going to be out in the open, I'd go with one of those easy-ups or some kind of tent with a full frame.

BTW, that's SONETs car posing in the pic.
