I replaced the turn signal switch on my 99 323i and now the airbag light is staying on, after checking the wiring for a second time, I call a fellow mechanic and he told me on 99 323i that the airbag light will stay on when ever the airbag has been disconnected and reconnected, and that it has to be reset, but he does not know how with out a bmw special tool, can anyone help me and tell me how to reset it? I live 200 miles from the nearest dealer.
Thank you
David

Unfortunately, you should have disconnected the negative terminal of the battery before doing this work. That would have avoided the SRS light. It will not reset itself.

Peake Research now has a new tool to reset the SRS light. http://peakeresearch.com/srstool.htm

If you don't want to travel to your 'local' BMW dealer, then you may be able to find a local garage with more expensive diagnostic equipment. For example, I believe the Snap-on diagnostic tester (with the BMW module) can reset the light.
