hi all,

I replaced the engine air filter on our R56 this past weekend and everything seemed to go ok. However, I later noticed this gap in the housing where you can see the orange filter edges. I removed the cover again thinking something was off, but I secured everything back together and it's still the same.

Is this normal for the R56? Is there some trick to getting it flush? I replaced it with an OEM Genuine BMW filter.

You will have to pull pull off the cover and check the seating and then put the cover back and re tighten. It should seat correctly a bit of trial and error until it is seated. Often the new seating is that bit fatter being new and you have to press down harder.
