I just got the OEM alarm. It's sitting in a box in my garage. I figured it works well, and the car is already pre-wired for it. I'll install it myself and then take it to the dealer to activate it. I got it at Circle BMW for $225, which is a great price. It'll cost be maybe 50-80 bucks to activate it. That's still way less than the dealer charging something like 699 or whatever.

In truth, stealing a BMW is actually pretty hard even without the alarm.

I recommend getting a Clifford. Most of the models offered carry much more feature than any OEM product.

I purchased mine for $320 installed with all the options inluding anti-carjacking.
How does the anti-carjacking system work? What does it do? Sounds kind of interesting...

Shahin, I purchased it from Car Audio Systems in Mt View, CA.

ImolaEd, here is how the carjacking works.

Whenever you are in a bad area, you activate the carjacking device. This requires that you enter a code each time you open and close your doors. If you forget, there is a warning chirp that prompts you. Failure to do so within the required 30 seconds, the doors will lock, the engine will shut off and the alarm will activate.

So if I ever get carjacked, I just hand them the car and within 1 block the car will stop running.

Feel free to let me know if you have anymore questions.

do u have the remote starter too?

Also was it only 320 to buy and install together?

Have you had any problems with accidently triggering the car jacking device?

Thanks, This is the alarm I wanted and if its cheaper than the OEM im getting it for sure.

well my friend got carjacked at gun point in our good area. I want the anti car jack activated all the time until we find a new area. I was thinking I might have problems with dropping people off in my car. Think about activating the anti car jack and dropping someone off while forgetting to deactivate it. That would suck. So its only 320 to buy and install together?

Ed...I keep responding to your posts all over the place. :p Could you post somewhere (or shoot me an email) and let me know how the alarm install goes? I had planned on getting one and letting the dealer install....but if I can save $2-300, I might give it a shot myself.

Will do. From what I hear, it should take me about 30 minutes.
