I have a 2000 328i and I have been using an aux input for a few years now. It allowed me to play my XM Skyfi until I got XM direct installed. All you do is buy the adapter(Blitzsafe), plug it into the cd changer wire and hook-up any rca input you want. So all you people looking for 03/04 radios you can save your money and leave those radios for us who want XM direct. Thanks, Matt

FWIW, this is NOT the same as BMW's aux in. You DO need a newer radio for that. The Blitzsafe/Soundgate option will not work for people that want to retain their OE changer, for example (Blitzsafe has a model that will let you add an Alpine instead).

And a number of people have reported intermittent problems with the Blitzsafe units as well.

Can you still use the factory CD changer with the Blitzsafe?

No. Blitzsafe, Soundgate and Peripheral (probably the 3 major suppliers out there for this stuff) all explicitely list an aftermarket changer (Usually Alpine or Pioneer, though Kenwood and Sony exist) to add onto their aux or sat radio adapters.
