Today, we went out with my wife and son to do few things with the excellent weather, and I was looking forward to driving my car as I did not get the chance all week.
However, trafic was terrible, more than the usual Saturday. People were honking one another, patience were running very low for some reason, and we got stuck on I270 due to an accident. Unfortunately, there was an Explorer that looked like it rolled over, the top of the Explorer was completely integrated with the seats, I do not know if any one survived. Two more cars were also involved but not as bad as the Explorer. We waited with engines off for about 30 mins, chopper came and went; but eventually the road opened single lane.
I just did not really enjoy driving today. However, I thought, the traffic should have calmed down by 1 am
and I should go out for a nice drive on the back alpine roads. I can tell you this was one of the most enjoyable drives. I drove a little more spirited than usual, and the roads were just wonderful with very few people around, no deers or anything; and thank God, no police
The drive is about 15 miles with many elevation changes and many many tight turns; it is a blast to take the Bimmer down that road.
On the way back, I got some gas, and I took off from the station at the same time with an Acura CLS, He was in front of me. I had considered that car before buying my Bimmer, but just could not get my hands to my wallet to pay for it, I am so glad I did not.
I decided to take it easy and not provoke him by trying to pass him on single lanes. But he wanted to play. So, I stuck to his rear about couple car lengths behind. He started increasing his speed as well as I. We were at quite high speeds for the 35 mph roads (let me just say this: I was on 4th gear at 4000-4500 rpm), and he seemed to be struggling as his car was leaning to the sides significantly at each turn, and him using the breaks quite often. Honestly with no exageration, my car was not even trying at this time. Very straight, stable, and precise. The steering feel is just absolutely perfect on this car, and the suspension setup cannot be any better.
At the end of our road, I saw the CLS as a tired car that was happy it was all over, and my Bimmer kept telling me "more, more." I can tell you this much, if any one is thinking or thought of CLS instead of a Bimmer, you should have been in this drive or create one of yours
I am so glad I did not get a CLS. This drive just proved to me why people so unquestionably are willing to pay about $8K more for the Bimmer, it is absolutely worth it. It is not about the horsepower, which Honda does not seem to get it
Have a good night everyone, time to sleep.
