I won't know for sure until Tuesday when I can get the car towed to the dealer. But the second pump was replaced less the 25,000 miles ago. The car is showing the same characteristics as the first time:

What are the symptoms of a failing HPFP?

- Long crank before the engine turns over (slow start)
- Check Engine light illuminates
- Car runs rough, and has reduced power

My turbo warranty runs out at the end of the month, maybe I'll have them look those over too while it's in the shop.

Driving in limp mode is certainly an adventure. At least I made it home unlike the time the alternator died. :thumbup:

Sounds like! If so replace LPFP - there is high prob not enough pressure to the HPFP suction side when cold, causing cavitation damage.

Yes, N54. Just got back from dealership. Should know something tomorrow. I asked them to check the turbo's too since my warranty on those expires at the end of this month. Does anyone actually get a BMW loaner anymore? They gave me a Camry, LOL.

And the verdict is, HPFP. Last one only lasted 25K miles. :-(
