Any idea when we will be able to customize 2017 430i and 440i on the BMW USA website?

Think I remember reading here that people expect this when most of the 2016s are not orderable anymore, and 2017s of most models are actually on dealer lots.. so maybe Nov / Dec?

As I recall it is usually a month or two after model change over.

It may not be much longer. You can build a 230 and 240 now at bmwusa.com and those 2017s went into production just recently.
