It's purely cosmetic... If it weren't, BMW would (Edit: would NOT - $hit, can't type today) give you the "option" to delete it...

first, don't yell at us please.

i have said this before, the 330 is simply not capable of going at the speed where the lip spoiler will be useful, so if you get it it will be purely cosmetic. i don't know why people like to make their e46 look like an M3. if they didnt have the lip spoiler on the M3, I don't think ANYBODY would put one on an E46. the hamann and acs spoiler look better. coz it's strictly for looks, might as well get a bigger one so other people can tell you have a spoiler and think your car's faster than the rest. =)

yup, purely cosmetic...but for around $100, you can't go wrong

C'mon Alex... you know that M3 parts are worth at least 5hp a piece... 10hp if the ///M badge is added. :D

I disagree. The spoiler is on the M3 (which I have) for the Coanda effect. Read R & T, July 2001, pp. 137 - 138. It decreases lift and drag. I believe it will be somewhat effective at anything over 70 mph. I someone with a 330 likes it, and it's purposeful, why not? Big spoilers can be ricey.

Hey Greg,

BEAUTIFUL CAR! Silver/Cin? Wow, there's gotta be very few around. I've never seen one! Congrats! :thumb:

Now, I really don't think that spoiler is useful. If it were, BMW would NOT give you the "option" to delete it... BMW would be liable if someone had an accident due to increased lift (which could've been avoided by the spoiler)... Remember the early TT coupes?

Hey, Greg!

Nice to see you drop by the board. Getting tired of the drama over at Roadfly yet?

Once again, great to see you come by! :thumb:
Hmm.

Is the lip spoiler a dealer installed option, or a do-it-yourself install?

The lip spoiler is factory-installed on the M3, though you can do a no-credit delete.

I got mine through the local dealer and their body shop painted it and put it on.

My friend got it for me as a B-DAY present, but I think it was like
$90.00.
