back to the model car that was

The car looks to be the same type car that ran away (over 8 seconds better fastest lap than anyone else) with the '98 BMW CCA race at Sebring.

They called it a Chevron/BMW. That car was red/ white top but same style center stripe (except white) as the picture in the original post.

My guess is that it is a kit car running a BMW powertrain/engine combo.

Fiberglass, not steel.
