Did you notice the Competition Package M3 in the showroom at Park Avenue? I'm going to have to stop in next time I'm down that way.
Well, we will see. I've got an auto-broker I'm dealing with and he is trying to get me the best deal on my trade so we'll see what he comes up with. When I bought the car a year ago the retail was over 21K. It has 16K miles on it now. KBB retail is over 19K.SARAFIL said:Maybe KBB is totally clueless on the value of your trade?
Do you have leather? navigation? ABS? moonroof? Even if you have all four, the car is probably only worth ~$13k. Without them, start deducting from that number. $11k is on the low end, but it's not way off unless your car is a loaded version in excellent condition.the_s_rabbit said:Well, we will see. The other thing was the $tealer told me that I would get a great value on my trade because he used to work at Mazda and he was saying they don't really offer any incentives on that car, which is true. They only offer a small incentive for recent college grads. But the first time he came back from meeting with his manager and only offered 11K it was like a slap in the face.
Hmm, I don't have nav, but on autotrader people are selling (private sellers) pretty much the same car for 18K +. Dealers are selling them at KBB retail or even higher. 19-22K.SARAFIL said:Do you have leather? navigation? ABS? moonroof? Even if you have all four, the car is probably only worth ~$13k. You won't get retail value for your car when you trade it in-- you'll get wholesale value. Wholesale on your car is in the $12,000-13,000 range.the_s_rabbit said:Hmm, I don't have nav, but on autotrader people are selling (private sellers) pretty much the same car for 18K +. 13K may be reasonable for a 3i model, but even those are selling at 14-15K.
And my car is definitely in excellent condition.
This isn't necessarily true. Dealers can pull money from one side of the transaction to make another side of the transaction look better. For example, if you're trading in a car worth $10k at the wholesale level and you want $15k and they talk you down to $12k. They simply 'move' $2k from one part of the transaction (in this case, the sale of the new car) to the other part of the transaction. It all depends on how deep the dealer is on the transaction. If the dealer has room on the sale (profit over cost), then, he has room to do this. Also, there may be other places that the dealer can make up for a bit of a loss when doing this. There could be other 'credits' to the dealer for particular vehicle types etc. Not sure on BMW & how they work it, but, this is a short generalization of the entire industry. This is why they always say to deal on the price of the car first, and THEN bring the trade to the party.the_s_rabbit said:I'll let you know when I make the deal.
And for the 3i I was talking private party sales, not retail.
I got KBB trade for the last car I traded, and it was a POS. It all depends on how much the dealer wants to make a sale.
There's a black ZHP 6 spd ($43k) here in Boston at BMW Peabody, and I think a few at Herb Chambers. If it was mystic blue or silver gray I'd be tempted.greekzilla said:Any ZHP's left at that dealership? If yes, which dealership in NJ?
KBB is not accurate for fairly new cars. It's pretty accurate for like 6+ year old cars.the_s_rabbit said:I'll let you know when I make the deal.

did you try carsdirect? You can get a deal straight from them. Just go to the site and it'll give you a discounted price in like a minute.greekzilla said:I have been having ZERO luck on negotiating a deal with dealers in the Mid-West. Most of them sell at invoice. The dealers that I have been speaking with will not use the cash from BMW to "sweeten" the deal. If anyone of you can offer a helping hand (your salesperson's contact info) that would be much appreciated.![]()

You're right. Supplies are limited, Call now!sunnykk said:I just bought my Silver Grey 330i ZHP, Cold Weather, Xenons, Leather for $ 40 K. I think the MSRP came up at just below $ 44 K. My understanding is that you cannot order these anymore and if there are any in the lot or any in transit, that's all the choices you are gonna get.
That is the exact same MSRP as mine that I picked up last Friday-at my price of $35,955 before taxes they are still making $1700 profit. If they really want to sell that car they will have to do better!greekzilla said:Well here goes, the best I can find for a 2005 330i ZHP, Cold Weather, Xenons (MSRP: $41,995) is $37,000 (with out state tax, etc). When I speak with these dealers, the always mention that they want to "make room for the E90...gotta clear out the E46's." I just don't understand dealers.
buy from so cal then. honestly, if it means saving 3-4k, just fly out on southwest and drive your car home. or have them ship it to you for $500. you'll still save a buttload.greekzilla said:I have been having ZERO luck on negotiating a deal with dealers in the Mid-West.
