I hear this a lot. IMHO, many BMW drivers might have a superiority complex (BMWs sure do win a lot of comparison tests in magazines ), but I don't think we're A-holes. On the other hand, about some of the Fast and Furious crowd...

in my opinion, there is probably some truth to the stereotype since bmw's are a 'enthusiast's car', more people passionate about driving would buy them (aside from the badge buyers) and enthusiasts tend to drive more 'aggressively' than your normal camry driver... the same could probably be said for most other 'performance' oriented cars... like porsche and whatnot.

I would say this board represents only a very small sampling of the typical BMW demographic, and that most BMW buyers don't care too much about the performance capabilities of their car.

Some BMW drivers are a-holes, sure, but you've got a-holes driving every make and model. I saw a real a-hole on the road this afternoon. He was tailgating, cutting people off, weaving between cars, etc. He was driving what looked like a late '80s Ford Escort, so you get all kinds...

My impression is BMW drivers are, on average, slightly more courteous than drivers of other makes.

Hmm, no, I just think when someone cuts you up, you tend to notice it a bit more when its a Bimmer. But I've been cut up by all kinds of vehicles, not just BMWs. Seems like it happens when driving Mom's Odyssey (aka the Goatmobile) a lot more though, I am astonished how invisible a Grey Minivan is at times...

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I was an a-hole long before owning a BMW.

Here in California, it seems like the SUV drivers are the a##holes. Just because
they have large vehicles, they think they own the road. They'll tailgate and
cut people off. So...I don't think it's just BMW drivers (but we also have our
share). Oh well, welcome to the road.
