Assuming that you were in the market for a luxury car:

Which one would you pick?

The fact that you want a luxury car is a given in this poll...

Yes, I am beating a dead horse. All of these are quite good luxury cars, some more biased towards sport or luxury. I think that the new 7 blows them all away in terms of luxury and performance :thumb:

You'll find me behind the wheel of the Benz. IMHO, all the options suck, so I may as well look good while I suck.
will choose the bezo...ive driven that bad boy AMG style, very impressed of the overall feel of the engine and ride. the 7 would be my second choice.
A8 for me. The exterior is getting a little dated now, but I love the interior, and its far less common around here than a S-class, which are almost as common as 5ers.
I choose the 745i, as most likely I will be the one driving it around and not anyone else, as my parents use me as the chauffeur. So any amount of sportiness that I can derive from the car I will use, and that would entail having the sportiest of the group. Besides I actually like the car, unlike the majority here.

Currently my father has a MB S320 and all I can do is cringe at the slow working auto and ponderous feel as I'm drafted to do the driving. The city is worst, with stop and go and the limited parking available for a large car.

Thank god I have a 325i on the way... :p
Appearance (other than finish!) really doesn't grab me as much as performance or reliability does. I'd go with the 745i, open trunk and all!

For their rarity alone, I voted for the Audi.
Ya just gotta be different eh TD? I bet you posted from a Mac as well, didn't ya? :)
Mac's are nice, easy to use!
And Mac OS X is a much better unix than any linux flavor, IMO.

(Full BSD unix on mach kernel)

i agree...it will rock when/if they ever port it to the intel platform... until then, macs are too expensive just to get OSX... and there aren't enough cool native apps out yet for OSX.. well maybe there are by now, but it's still always behind intel/amd hardware performance-wise.
I picked the Jag VP, because you didn't give as a choice the car I'd actually buy: The XJR. Yes, it's a dated design, but it has emotion in a way that the Buick Motor Works design doesn't (and never will). Plus, it's got that smokin' 370+ hp supercharged V8, which is pure heaven to an ex-Detroiter like myself.

Of course, if I *really* had 70K to spend on a car, the M5 wins hands down, not least because it's one of the few cars in the segment which offers a stick. But you restricted this to more luxury oriented automobiles, which to me means "automatic." If I had to buy a slushbox, the Jag is the obvious choice.

Speaking of Jags, anyone see the tech specs on the new X350 (the replacement for the current XJ)? Weight is supposed to be an almost unbelievable 3350 lbs, or about 400 lbs lighter than the current car. Compare that to the porker 745 (which easily exceeds 4000 lbs, if I'm not mistaken), and you can see that the new Jag has a lot of performance potential. Throw in Wolfgang's influence, and I think you're looking at a pretty hot product.

Plus, it was actually designed by someone with eyesight. :thumb:
LOL! :D Still not the outcome most of you would expect, huh? :lmao:

I think my point is clear now. Compared to others in the SAME segment, the 745i is a winner...

I voted for the 7 too, not so much because I am taken with it, but because of the options given. The car just doesnt "speak" to me but neither do any of the other cars in the category. I wouldn't trade my 3 for it though. Well, maybe, if it was straight across, but would have to think about it, because I really like the way my 3 looks.
Not that I'd want it, but you're missing the Lexus LS430
I might go for the Bentley Arnage

BENTLEY ARNAGE
I would roll in the MB...real smooth!
MB for me! But the DTS should be changes to Seville STS and after having 2 of them 92 and 99 I will say that the 99 was the best balanced front drive car I have ever driven. Quality was very poor though and the steering was way over boosted, though absent of torque steer.
