Has BMW come up with a fix for the sticky accelerator pedal problem yet? With the warm weather fast approaching, mine is getting stickier and stickier!

Nope... no fix yet.

Those who are having the problem (accelerator feels notchy/sticky), I urge you to join this group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bmw-sticky-pedal/.

You will be given a number to call a BMW NA Customer Relations representative.

Complain, urge them to fix it, and keep checking in with them. They know the problem exists, and they call every person on their "list" on the 15th of every month to give a status report. The larger the list, the more urgent the problem.

Alee, could you describe the sticky pedal feel in more detail? Sometimes it seems like my RPMs hang when shifting and I start thinking that it may be a sticky pedal, but it may just be in my head. Thanks.:eeps:
RPM hang is the drive-by-wire. BMW thinks this is "normal".

The sticky pedal is when your accelerator pedal actually physically feels sticky/notchy when pressing it in, or letting it out.

The best way I've been able to describe it is that it feels like the pedal plunger has notches cut into it. Instead of being able to move the pedal up/down in a smooth fluid motion, the pedal feels like it only has 6 or so different positions of travel.

The sticky symptoms are only in warm weather -- most likely something to do with thermal expansion of some sort. Cold weather driving is fine unless you have the heat on high, in which case the car's heater can also bring on the symptoms.

Nobody has reported the pedal actually sticking and staying that way, but I'm sure none of us want to wait for that to happen.
