In the early morning hour ignited
" RescueRed "
Who is RescueRed....
(see... Rescued to the South now)

in front of my garage...sat for a bit (2-3 mins) and noticed the headlights were not on. Checked the switch on the dash and all was in order...turned the button and nothing but the parking lights were on.
Drove off and for a couple of blocks finally the lights popped on.
Any "heads up" explanation?
Anyone experience somthing simular?

There’s a sensor in the mirror area, bmw integrates the rain sensor and sunlight sensor into one unit. In short it detects light intensity, interprets data, and some unit decides to turn on/off the headlights. More info here: Rain sensor & headlight sensor testing | HELLA

Check for codes/faults from the rain sensor unit.
Sounds like you have normal operation.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! :)
