Hi Everyone,

I have been reading up on the X5 forum about these two touch screen upgrades to the OEM screen which bring Android Auto + Car Play to our F25 X3s. (Mine is a 2013)

BMW X3 X4 Series 8.8" F25 F26 2010 - 2018 CIC NBT Multimedia Navigation System

The other unit that is getting some love is the CAR NAVI BMW X3(F25)/X4(F26) 2011-2017 Radio upgrade

As you can see below they are very similar, perhaps identical hardware + software with different branding.

I would like to ask the folks here that have done the install two things:

1) - Bluetooth connectivity apparently is not that great compared to OEM - what is your experience workarounds (some folks have flat out returned the unit base on this single issue

2) - Audio quality is subpar for many folks due to a) audio gain mismatches and b) audio noise and interference due to the analog Aux In additional run from dash to center console.

Please share your thoughts.

Many thanks !

There are newer systems out there such as this one. You are now better off with a 10.25" screen that sits on top like newer models in my opinion. Shop around for the best price.

Has anyone out there installed one of these Dasiata units in their vehicle? I am considering one but would love to see some pros/cons and some real life experience from the Bimmerfest family.

I put this unit in my 2016 BMW X3. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr..._expid=0836aebd-30e9-40f0-a5e5-db5b6092996a-5

Love it. Have all the regular I-Drive functionality. Then by pressing the MENU button on the I-Drive it switches to the Android System. You can run Waze and other Android APPs. I use this APP to run Android Auto: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gb.xxy.hr&hl=en

I can run it wireless or with a usb cable.

So, I have all that BMW provides and now have Android which it looks like BMW will never provide.

Installation was great. No cutting wires. I can return it to stock if I want.

I bought a "Y" cable for GPS so it uses the Car antenna.

Support is a little harder than the USA distributors.

Only thing you have to understand is the I-Drive controller does not work inside the Android APPs. You have to use the touch screen. Not a problem for me. I can also use "Hello Google" and "Hello Waze"

I am also thinking about replacing my non nav headunit in my 2017 X3 with these after market units. I was wondering if you need to connect the unit with my smart phone's wifi for GPS to work? Also, would OEM backup camera still work?

For my unit. No, I bought a GPS "Y" cable. My Head unit uses the car GPS antenna. The unit also came with its own GPS Antenna, but I did not want to use it. You do not need to use your phone if you don't want to. I use my phone as the internet network as a hot spot. Or I use the phone as the android auto server.

Yes the OEM backup camera works just as it always did. Either when the unit is in the old i-drive side or when you are on the android side.

Are the boot up times for these just like OEM? Or are you waiting 2 minutes for it to boot up after you start the car before you have any functionality?

Also curious what the audio quality is like? From what I can tell, these units use the aux input for all audio output, which doesn't have the greatest quality.

Did your car already have OEM navigation? Mine does not and I was curious as to rather or not all of them have a navigation antenna, even without OEM navigation.

I was very excited about BimmerTech retrofit as it is very close to the OEM, however they are telling me that I will lose BMW Assist if I install their unit. Does anyone know if installing AVIN USA unit will have same consiquences? Also does it impact warranty so next time I take my car to the dealership for service, should I expect any grief?
