I'm in the market for a new 3 series sedan. I was considering either the 330i or new 335i sedan. My reasons for the 330i were a. solid car/engine b. if I were able to get a great price $500 over invoice c. lack of a turbo could be a good thing. I asked a local dealer to provide pricing on similarly equipped 330i and 335i. To my surprise, the 330i quote was 42,355 for Premium, Cold Weather, Sport, Auto and Metallic Paint. The same package for the 335i was 47,355. That makes the 330i price $2200 over invoice and the 335i $1160 over MSRP!:thumbdwn:

Is this what I should expect? I was thinking more like $40655 for the 330i and $46195 for the 335i. Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated. I'd like to buy a car, but would like to get a good fair price.

The dealer will always charge you as much as they can. If you want a good price, you will have to do some home work. The best way is to send your offer to the internet department of various local dealerships and work with them on the phone. I think $500-$1000 should be doable. Do note that the lease rates on the 3 series are quite good now.

I think it will really depend on inventories and availability of the 335. You should be able to find '06 330 for a low amount over invoice, but I doubt if there will be much discounting on the 335 for at least a month or two.......there's no way to really know, whenever there is a new model, prices generally stay stay strong for a while
