Just picked up a 2018 540xi M sport.

What are the best scanners/code readers with battery registration?

Thank you,

Best is so subjective…. Answer to best is probably what the dealer has.
you can buy rheingold ISTA which is close enough but steep learning curve and overkill to just register a battery.
You can also Carly or Foxwell.
Carly is a wifi dongle that hooks up to your phone. You have to buy the dongle and subscription that renews yearly. I’m grandfathered into lifetime for bmw so no idea of the cost but probs a couple hundred bucks to get going. Carly UI is improving and it’s probably the simplest to use once you got it hooked up and spent a bit of time with it.
Foxwell is a hand held device with cable hook up. You buy the device and the bmw program and own it for life. When I got mine I bought BMW and Mercedes and it was mid 2s. Easy to use but the UI is very 1990s. I have to pull it out at least once a month for the Benz…

Ditto “best”…that really depends on other criteria that would fit your needs. We have no clue what that criteria is.

There is also the Bimmerlink app…which is the sister app to Bimmercode. Both would require the use of an OBD dongle. There are more than enough videos on youtube to see how both apps are utilized. And they each have their own websites for specifics, too.

I really appreciate the responses! I brought my Foxwell NT510 to the dealer to scan for any potential codes, but to my surprise, my scanner does not support the G30. No big whoop as It's a CPO so major problems will be delt with by the dealer if they arise. Evverything seems fine for now.
Based on your suggestions I ended up buying BimmerCode and BimmerLink, with the Enet cable & iPhone adapter.
Tonight, I used BimmerCode successfully to code some settings to my liking. Haven't tried BimmerLink yet.

Thank again,
Cheers!
