It is very rare in this economy to come across someone who is not looking to make a quick buck. I took my 528i into Bimmer Clinic in Avenel, NJ to have the trans checked. When I went to pick up my car I was told that everything was OK. Bill; the shop owner; told me that he had checked out the rest of the car and found a few minor things that would require repair IN THE FUTURE. He did not try to sell me anything I did not need. I feel that his honesty and professional manner should be known by anyone who reads this forum.

I'll second the nomination for Bimmer Clinic. And *thanks* to everyone on this site for the previous recommendations...they made a potential nightmare a whole lot easier to handle.

Last night, my 97 540i finally wore out it's original alternator at 205.6Kmi. Unfortunately, it was on my frequent drive from New Hampshire to Northern Virginia....the battery light started flickering in Southern Connecticut and by the time I hit New York, no amount of revving the engine could keep it off.

I ended up getting a hotel quickly, before my battery was dead, and got a tow this morning. Because of the nominations on this site, I called them right when they opened at 9AM and spoke with John, their service manager. Despite the shop being FULL (and he had 4-6 other jobs already lined up), he was able to take me in right away and get my new alternator ordered. I also met up with Bill...very friendly and knowledgeable...who, like the poster above, gave me some other advice for the future. If you're ever in No. N.J. or break down in the Jersey City/Elizabeth/Newark area, I recommend them as a first stop.

Jordan, I am very happy that you were treated well at Bimmer Clinic. As I mentioned in my original post, they run a first class shop. It is one thing I miss about NJ since I retired to North Carolina.
