Inside the cockpit
One of the ZCP's best components doesn't show at all, though you will notice it the moment you start driving. A steering rack with a 14.5:1 ratio has been lifted from the M3 CSL's parts bin to replace the standard 15.4:1 rack. That gives the ZCP just 2.7 turns lock-to-lock instead of 3.0, which means that even hairpin turns almost never require the crossing of arms. This, to us, is what BMW steering should always feel like: quick and direct, with superb feel and feedback. Power assist is about perfect, enough to make the M3 ZCP easy to maneuver at slow speeds but not so much as to feel overboosted at higher speeds.
