No offense to Cutter and Jon, but I agree. B'fest (the event, not the board), from what I can tell, has turned into a modded car show (a la E46 Fanatics). But O'fest is a gathering of CCA nutjobs who like to autox and track their cars, appreciate older BMWs, and, to generalize, have an attitude closer to that of the guys on THIS board.nate328Ci said:O' Fest sounds more fun that bimmerfest to me :dunno:
Well, O'fest does have track events, true. Bimmerfest was way more than modded cars though they may have received most of the photo ops. There were far more stock or mild mods (wheels) than the heavy mods. I found the crowd at Bimmerfest to be exactly like this board....as a matter of fact most of the attendees at Bimmerfest are on this board, what a coincidence!TD said:

I would have loved to go to both, but O'Fest has a lot more appeal due to its activities, it is longer, and is in Colorado.in_d_haus said:

All I meant to point out was Bimmerfest had 3 times the regestered people (1000 at cutoff)
There's a half dozen from our club going to O'fest from here. I was asked to go but wanna keep the miles off the car.nate328Ci said:(besides you)
That would have been a great drive!in_d_haus said:

Since we're now on the subject of the profile of those who make up this board let's apply the Scientific Method here, and collect some data.TD said:

I don't think either of us were knocking bimmerfest. I would have loved to go and shurly would have had a good time. If i were to pick one, Oktoberfest would be it. Oktoberfest just seems more fun with all the driving events and classic BMWs :yikes:Jon Shafer said:Nate, TD, et al, BimmerFest was an event specifically designed (as a 1 day event) and tailored to the demographic of the type of people who participate in message board discussion groups such as this one. A different type of deal than OctoberFest. If we wanted to do OctoberFest, it would be much easier to just simply go to Octoberfest, no??

Starting with you TD, why doesn't everyone post their age, and what they feel is the most salient aspect as to why they consider themself a "true BMW Enthusiast" (rather than some spoiled stupid-punk kid who couldn't tell the difference between an ECU and his ASS)?
I will perform an Analysis Of Variance on the results myself, and let you know what I find...

Well, I can see your point, Nate. However, whenever someone starts out a statement, "No offense, but...", they are knowingly, and purposefully making a disparaging remark. You don't have to have an I.Q. of anything higher than an 80 (yes, 2 full standard deviations below the mean) to know that Oktoberfest is a BMWCCA sanctioned event, advertised for months in advance to every card-carrying BMWCCA member in the Roundel, that has an operating budget of probably several hundred thousand dollars, that also involves no less than an army of planners. To then go on and pass judgement on an event which one did not personally attend, and then compare it to something that it is obviously not happens to be offending to me - as the person responsible for the event itself, and, in part, for the very message board on which the comment is being posted.nate328Ci said:

Well, *I* wasn't trying to knock bimmerfest. I can't speak for Tom. I was never under the impression of a modded car show, and those pics that I saw of modded cars were usually things like DINAN S/C cars and ACS cars, very nice, like the RD Tornado :yikes: I was just kidding, and saying at the same time that more attendies doesn't mean that the event is necessarily better or more fun. I would have loved to go to bimmerfest, and really appreciate the messageboard.Jon Shafer said:

...Just my $02...
I just caught all of these responses. I was not here when these were posted or I would have responded sooner.Jon Shafer said:

I just don't understand why Tom would bash the event right here on the eponymous message board...
