I've got a 2001 325i and have been having an idle problem as of late.

Basically, when I have the heat or A/C on when I come to a stop, the idle starts jumping up and down and has actually stalled at one point.

I figured out that if I turn off the fan prior to stopping, the idle remains steady.

When I have the fan on, I can't really control the speed, it's either on lowest or full blast, there's no in between.

Is it possible that the blower motor resistor is the culprit? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The FSR can affect the engine idle? Weird.

well he did mention he has no control over fan speeds which is the final stage resistor. I guess when it cycles on and off the ac it can affect idle.

My friend seems to think it's the blower motor resistor, do you think that makes sense? Perhaps both should be replaced?

I'm going to try one or the other this weekend. I'll post the results. Thanks for your replies!
