Hello,

I've started experiencing this problem about 2 weeks ago, whenever I start the car in the morning and try to turn the wheel it produces a massive screeching noise. The thing is that the noise usually is no longer produced when the car is running at operational temperature, just when it is cold in the morning. :dunno: I've filmed the video of the noise and uploaded it on the youtube so you could check it out.

If anybody knows or had this kind of problem could you please tell me how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. sorry for vertical video and bird poop on the car :D

Check out the basics first. It has something to do with steering whilst static. So four things you could check are auxiliary belt, power steering fluid level, power steering pump and steering rack.

Ours did the same thing. I checked the power steering fluid and it was really low. I topped off and noise went away. Until after driving more and it was low again. I noticed that the power steering fluid had been leaking out the small hole in top of reservoir as it was all over the unit and hoses. Turns out, the filter for these is inside the reservoir at the bottom, and it was clogged, and causing it to come out the small vent at top. Can't change the filter, but I ordered a new power steering container and new hoses which were easy enough to replace. (I watched some YouTube vids of a guy named Nathan: https://youtu.be/I2D6z9Y4LY8 ). Total cost for the kit was less than an oil change at jiffy lube. Apparently, they go out about 80k miles. Do be careful as to what you fill the power steering with. Some call for ATF and some call for power steering. Mine calls for ATF, as noted on the cap of reservoir.
