Apologies folks I posted this on the new members page as well:

I have just collected a BMW325Ci 2001(Y) auto. The car is superb however there appears to be:

1. A problem with the AC controls, which appear [sometimes]then disappear.

2 A problem with the blower, which continues after the engine and ignition is switched off even it has not been driven.

3. If the blower is running the engine will not start.

4. If you remove and replace the blower fuse Number 50 [the fuse is still intact not blown] the blower switches off and it appears to reset and the engine will then start.

There are no fault codes shown in the OBDII.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Cheers Annandale

Which blower/fan are you referring to? Is it the heater fan that keeps the passenger compartment cozy in the winter and cool in the summer (via AC)? Or is it the auxiliary fan in from of the radiator?

If it's the heating/AC fan that's acting up the final stage resistor (FSR) is bad. There are numerous diys for replacing the FSR. If it's the auxiliary fan be aware that the engine computer controls this fan operation. The fan itself always has 12VDC, always.

marcozandrini ,cheers, many thanks, it is the auxiliary fan from the radiator which runs on forever until battery dead it is a large 40amp fuse using lots of power.

In addition the Air Conditioning will work sometimes and then just turn off at the control until [no lights, no operation of buttons] but the AC fan will stay running and the heat will remain the same in the cab.
