Hi I have a BMW 525 E60 2005, I have a problem with the screen, can somebody tell me if this can be repaired, or I need to change the screen. I think it could be a electronic problem. But Im not a expert with this.. Here are some picture from the failure.

Please Help me with this.

Its very good news that idrive is functional. I have no idea which cable would be the bad one. If you're going to attempt to DIY, I'd start in the trunk as there are a bunch of electronics back there associated with idrive that are much easier to access than cables behind the dash.

I think you'll most likely need to take it to a dealership in the end though given the complexity of the E60s electronics.

To remove the screen, there are two small Allen screws holding the screen in place. Remove those, flip the screen downward a bit from the top, and slide it out. On the rear you have the main harness plug and the video cable. Make sure both are snug. If the screen is faulty there are plenty on ebay.

After that, you have to remove several trim pieces to get to the other end of the cable.

Could be a number of things. Mine would flicker and roll like yours occasionally and then started to get worse. I was reaching the end of a warranty so first had the cable checked, then pulled off and all of the contacts cleaned. Better for a short while then started doing it again.

Eventually the only permanent fix was a screen replacement ($1800) while it was still under warranty.

Initially tough part was to prove it was doing it because $tealer would say "Cannot duplicate customer complaint". I took a video the screen flickers and then panned away to that day's newpaper front page to make them stay with it until it flickered for them.
