I purchased the BMW front sunshade from pacific. granted, it's a bit pricey but it is very well made and fits the window perfectly. it comes with a handy storage pouch as well but it's a little difficult to get in and out so I'll probably just store the shade in the pouch durring the winter and fall.
with the sunshade in place and the sunroof popped at the rear (shade closed), the car is noticibly cooler after a long stay in the parking lot at work. this is good because it takes the A/C less time to catch up when jumping back in the car to go out to lunch. it was a little tricky getting the shade in place the first couple of times due to the tight fit but once I got the hang of it it's not bad.
I haven't posted here in a while because I've been posting on miataforum.com as I just purchased a low mileage 1st gen 1.6 miata. lots of cheep and effective mods for that car. I'm probably gonna pull the head and have it shaved to bump the compression among other things (like you guys really care
