Got this in the email this morning:

http://www.safetyalerts.com/recall/a/02/v00074.htm

Don't think it's a hoax or anything like that. Do consult BMW NA Customer Service to see if your MY2002 Nov built BMW needs a recall.

When you 2002 owners hit 6 recalls, 2 of them life threatening, then at that time you may ***** about it. :) Our 99' Explorer had that many recalls in the first two years.

Recalls are a way of life in the automotive industry, its all about getting the product out on schedule, regardless of quality control :(

I think you hit the nail on the head. That's how projects seem to work at my company!

Marketing big wigs: 'Just get it in, we don't care if it works, just get it in!' ;) :tsk:

in 1999, Ford had a commercial they ran all year around the theme "Quality is Number 1"...what a joke! (though I can't complain about the vehicle itself, its been very robust, we've had it off-road in Montana, its got 60k on it, and you don't even change the plugs on the dang thing til 100,000 miles! )

Its hard to blame marketing in this instance though. ITs not like they changed the design of the struts or mounts. It was a manufacturing mistake- pure and simple.
I wonder what percentage of all 325's built during that time were affected. Something tells me it's minor, but a recall is a recall...

Is it me, or is the MY 2000 built between 9/99 and 06/00 the BEST E46es ever built? It's got the good steering, all the stronger reinforcement introduced in the convertible has already been integrated, no facelift, no broken fans, all the bad problems with earlier built E46es like the brake shimmy and warped discs were resolved, and Jim C. has already created a Shark Injector for it. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Mine is 4/2000 pro. and zero recalls on mine either :yikes: :thumb: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:
Hack-

I fully agree w/ you. You may want to revise the dates to be 5/00-- June 2000 323s had the light steering I believe.

If you could put a 330 engine into a 328 built during that time (and lose the drive-by-wire), then you'd have a truly great car.
