2006 325xi, bought my first BMW with a bad transmission. Had no problems with the removal until it was time to separate the bell housing from the motor. I have all the bell housing bolts removed. I have the tranny lines disconnected as well as the wiring harness and the shift linkage. I have been smacking the housing with a block of wood and a hammer,"I'm not to worried about the housing."
I have Been dropping rear of tranny, rocking it, using pry bars,"only can get the bottom and lower sides started" Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for reading. Hope to hear some hint for a new BMW Owner.

If bottom and around the sides at the bottom begin to separate but the top stays tight together...I'd be looking for a "mystery bolt" up there at the top where it's hard to see!!! If there isn't one...then I'd suspect you are "hanging the tranny" on the input shaft and the shaft is binding up ]. So get a jack under the tranny and lift it till it just starts to lift the motor the back off a schooch (BMW technical term)...all the tranny weight on the jack and off the shaft...then try to separate...good luck! Thanks for the replies, I will update later today. Definitely got all the bell housing bolts and all the torque converter/ flywheel bolts. It is a Michigan car so it could have some corrosion binding the marriage. Thanks again and will update

Ok guys, definitely was a dowel situation. I got the tranny out and the new one prepped. Does anyone know a good website to order new bell housing bolts and the tin plate between the tranny and motor? " I have no clue what that tin plate is called" thanks for the help guys!
