My voice recognition does not work on my X1 - year 2014. I'm frustrated beyond and BWM says that there is nothing that they can do for me. I use the voice recognition to dial a number or to dial by saying a persons name. Any help would be appreciated!

Did you add the name to the cars phonebook? Or do you have navigation?

Saying the full name of the person helps a lot at times. Are the names in the phone book first name then last name or last name first? I switched mine to be first name first.

Its only first name - and it doesn't ever understand me. If I say dial number - it gets that wrong almost always as well. I dont have the nagivational system in this X1.

Ignoring the X1 for a moment, have you had success with voice recognition in other cars or with your cell phone, i.e. SIRI in the iPhone? Any issues?

No - just the X1. It's awful - doesn't understand a word I say. My husband has the same issues with my car - the voice recognition doesn't recognize our voices. BMW replaced the speaker in the car - but that it's made for Germans (or something like that) and I have no recourse but to deal with it.

So if you just use the cell phone voice recognition to operate the cell phone outside of the car that works fine? Also if you use the on board voice recognition to operate the radio does that work? Have you had someone pair there phone to the car and have them use it and does that work?
