Brake Fluid Change on ‘21 M760i

My ‘21 M760i is due for a brake fluid change in March. I’ve never done a brake fluid change but I’m wondering if I should give it a try. I’m considering buying one of those devices that hook up to your brake fluid reservoir and push fresh fluid into the reservoir as you bleed fluid out at awheel. Anyway, any words of wisdom for me? Is it so much hassle that I should just pay the dealer to do it? Thanks in advance.

The TIS procedure uses ISTA Service Function to direct the process and cycle the appropriate DSC valves. It first drains the brake fluid tank. It notes the sequence of opening the two valves on each caliper.

thats one reason I got BMW to do mine,
brake jobs are not what they used to me, rather pay somone money and ensure it's done correctly

You have a #120k car. Have the dealer do the $200 service. It may be covered by the 3y/36k maintenance agreement.

Doug Huffmand and Jaye944, thanks for the help and information. Sounds like the brake fluid change is going to be more complex than something I'd like to try.
Kssod, thanks for the hint on the BMW Maintenance program. It looks like brake fluid is covered in the maintenance program. I bought my car used but it's been less than 3 years and 36k miles so hopefully I'm covered. I did buy it from a BMW dealer. My car needs to get a PA state inspection here shortly. It's scheduled for early February at the local BMW dealer. I'll ask about the brake fluid change at that time. Hopefully the fact that I didn't buy the car from him doesn't present a problem.

depends on the millage, as well as year, 4 years or 80k which ever is first, unless has the extended warrantee,
but would be covered under warrantee yes

if it's bmw warrantee, you can have it done at any BMW dealer

If you bought used is it CPO? I would suggest sitting down with the service manager at the dealership that you plan on going to routinely. Discuss with them that you are new to the vehicle, have history pulled, and discuss warranty and maintenance coverage.

A
Brake fluid changes are due after the first three yeas, and then every two years after that. If the car is less than 36 months old and has less than 36k miles, it's covered by the free maintenance.

If the car says a brake fluid change is due in March 2023, that means the car was probably built in March 2020. (BMW model years can begin anytime during the previous calendar year, and can be early if there's a new platform.)

With the right equipment, a tech' at the dealership can do a brake fluid change in about 20 minutes. They don't even have to take the wheels off.

Qsilver7, thanks for the detailed brake fluid service instructions. I'm going to keep them for the next time when I no longer have the option of it being done at the dealership under warranty.
