My 535 is almost out of Factory Warrany and I know that the brake pads are getting down so I stopped by the local dealership to ask the Service Manager what they will provide when I bring the car in for brakes maint. The car has 29,000 miles.

He said that they will probably slap new pads on the existing rotors. If the rotors are within spec., they will leave them on the car without even resurfacing them.

Is this right?

I would think that they should replace or at least resurface the rotors.

Do all dealers do this?

I heard the Mercedes Benz dealers always replace the pads and also the rotors.

Please chime in.

When the wear indicators tells the computer you need brakes, or if you have less than 3k miles left on the brakes, then the dealer will replace them. BMW rotors can NOT be resurfaced. If your rotors are within BMW spec then you will not get new rotors and they will not be resurfaced and you will just get new pads. If you really want new rotors sounds like you need to do a half dozen 50mph to zero stops and then hit the car wash.
