Just bought a 2011 E93. The idrive readout says I have something like 40,000 miles left on brakes (just a guestimate from memory). My question...is that based on the sensors actual reading or based on a reset of the system? Could someone reset the reading to a like-new setting on a worn out set of brakes? Same for other readouts? Oil, coolant, etc? Can I trust the readouts on a just purchased used car?

Thnx

The brake life is based (loosely) on the sensor reading. You can trust that.
The oil level sensor is somewhat reliable, but I wouldn't trust the oil condition sensor; always change the oil when you buy a car.
The coolant timer is just a reset timer; good idea to change that.

Great news on the brake sensor!

I didn't realize there is an oil level AND oil condition, need to recheck that.

Agree I should do a flush of the coolant.

Thnx
