I took my 99 Z3 Coupe in becuase my ASC and ABS lights were flickering the past week. They found fault code # 71 which basically said that they should replace the Hydro Unit 34-51-6-756-287.
After that, the following text is in on the work order/invoice
"I read the ASC fault memory and found Fault Code 71. The fault was not present. I activated the pump motor and found that it worked. I called "Tech Hotline" and talked to Rick in the "Body and Chasis" group. He advised me to replace the complete hydrolic unit. I replaced the hydro unit and bled the brake system using the Modic to activate pump. I recoded the new modules and test drove the vehicle. No faults.
After the vehicle was worked on it could not be started by the car wash. I rechecked connections and performed a short test. I found that the EWS and DME was not alligned. I alligned the two and rechecked. The car now starts."
So what does is an EWS and DME?
What does he mean by not alligned?
Any ideas what the ph# is of this Tech Hotline?
