Can't set radio preset button - what am I doing wrong?

I have (had) all 8 buttons set for radio stations. Yesterday I accidentally overrode one of them and set it to a map location.

Now, I can't seem to get the radio station I had programmed back in. I have tried pushing the scroll wheel on the steering wheel to pop up the channel list, then selecting the station I want - it plays, but when I long-press that preset button what it does is save the station list instead of the actual station that's playing. In other words, any of the other 7 buttons play the assigned station. If I hit that one button that I've been fooling with, it brings up the station list.

I also tried the route of selecting the station from the iDrive controller, and then long-pressing. In that case, I get a "preset cannot be set" or some similar message.

I had programmed all 8 buttons right after I got the car 1-1/2 years ago and haven't messed with them since.

Help! Thanks.

Yes.

I'll go fiddle with it more over lunch and update with any more info I discover.

BTW the reason I messed up the button is, I apparently have the cracking preset buttons (this one shows what I thought was a scratch, but after reading some threads here today it looks like the cracked button problem.). I was trying to feel that scratch and that's why I long-pushed the button.

Solved

Ok, got it.

I had been selecting the station then trying to long-press the button.

The solution is to highlight, but not select, the station you want then long-press the button you want.

I also got a better look at that one button, sure is a crack. I guess the rest of them will do that too at some point. Guess I'll go get it fixed under warranty.
