Car gave me a fright last night

I spent a few hours cleaning the car on the weekend. Doors open for long periods of time, a couple of 'start it and pull it onto the driveway' and 'start it and put it back in the garage'. Later Monday I had the stereo on for about 15 minutes and it shut off by itself. Cycled the ignition and got 4x4 and DSC inactive warnings with the 'see your dealer soon, drive carefully etc'. Clock was reset too. Hmmm.

Put the charger on overnight and got the same warnings when I started it this morning. Part way to work the warnings turned off and it's been fine since.

I'd last driven it Friday evening too.

Way to put the fear in me BMW. :thumbdwn:

Yeah, I'd immediately suspected the problem was low voltage, especially since the warnings came up without the car even being started. All I did was turn the ignition 'on'. I was surprised, however that the warnings persisted the next morning even with a fully charged battery and that it took driving it to clear them.

I have no idea how old the battery is, or whether it's an AGM type or the regular one. I'll open the trunk panels and see if a date code reveals anything.

Other than this, loving the beast. :)
