I think 2017 is ENTRYNAV (ROUTE) Head Unit, which is incapable of CarPlay.

Most people go with an Aftermarket solution, for which I have no recommendation.

Hi folks. Just bought a replacement head unit for my 2018 F48 X1. It is part nmber 8705960 and has the Bluetooth and WiFi logos. Can someone ( Shawn ? ) point me in the direction of a coding expert so that Carplay can be activated ?
BMW sat nav is driving ( !! ) me crazy...and onto VERY narrow roads in the UK.

If you retrofit ENTRYTNAV to ENBTRYNAV2 you should not loose anything. You will need an Activator Module like this:

If you want CarPlay, Donor ENTRYNAV2 must have WLAN Port.

Just got an X1 xDrive25e 2022, the last 7 digits of the VIN are 5V26382. Is it possible to get car play and check if wifi is available without opening the unit?
