Hi, new to the forum...just got a 530 5pd.

Does anyone know how to do the CDV removal on a 530? How difficult is this to do solo, and if I should take it to a shop, anyone have any recommendations? (I live in seattle)

Thanks in advance for any help!

shop charged me $35 to remove, including the brake/clutch fluid flush.

this may sound like a stupid question, but whats the purpose of replacing the CDV?? or is it just because of wear??

The car feels rubbery when it has a CDV. Removing it will make the clutch feel more direct, and easier to control. Drive with 3 fat guys in the car, or a trunk load of heavy heavy stuff, and you'll see what i mean.

Car Tenders on Capitol Hill

I took mine to Car Tenders on Capitol Hill. They're a good independent shop and an authorized Dinan dealer (not that it matters). I purchased 2 valves from Seattle BMW and sent them to Zeckhausen to be modified. Zeckhausen kept one and sent me the other one. Car Tenders took about an hour to do the swap. Total cost was < $100. You won't spend a better $100 on your car. Enjoy your new ride.
