Drive down to your local AUTOZONE car parts store (they're all over Southern Cal).

They do diagnostic testing for free. Tell them you have a check engine light on and ask them to hook up their OBD II scan tool to read the codes. When the check engine light is on, a code appears on their reader.

The diagnostic port is behind a small cover below dash (above driver's left foot).

Get the code and let us know. We can then look up the generic code and try to determine what is wrong. Code will show something like P0152: Oxygen sensor Circuit High Voltage. (There are hundreds of codes).
