you have to take it to dealer to have them reset it

If they simply 'reset' it, won't it just come back? I thought there was a resistor that needed to be wired in somewhere? Is that not correct?

You have to re-program the on-board computer to recognize the difference in the amount of current it's drawing and then it won't trigger a fault code. Right now the light is coming on because the computer THINKS it's got a halogen light that's out since it's not drawing enough current. Once you get the computer re-programmed to recognize the amount of current as xenon HIDs then everything should be fine.

Re-programming should not cost more than $50.
