I drove through Antelope Valley once. I found it to be a really nice, interesting place to drive. It must have been spring, because I remember lots of yellow flowers all over the place. For as many people as there are in LA, it's pretty easy to get away to nice places without other people.
Many years back at a car show I saw a bug that'd been sliced in to 3rds the long way, the middle slice removed and the remaining 3rds welded back together so that it was a two seater (1 front, 1 back). From the side it looked like a regular bug. From the front/back it looked like a verrrry skinny bug. Did a great job on the body work. Wonder how stable it was now that it had such a small side-to-side wheel base. Too bad I didn't take any pics.
