I have a 2012 35is and can anyone direct me as to which fuse in the fuse box ties into the cigarette lighter socket in the armrest? Evidently it is blown as it will not provide juice to anything I try plugging into it. The manual instructions are rather vague and frustrating to say the least! :dunno:

Thanx...JDS

Many BMW lighter circuits are off while the car is off to protect the battery.

Thanx so much for the prompt response Doug but I am aware that the plug will not operate until the engine has been fired up. I have never had a problem with it before as I utilize it to charge my phone while driving.

think its probably fuse 54 a 20A fuse if its similar to half the other bmws out there. there should be a little paper diagram inside the fuse panel though the symbol for power points is a little thing with a + and - symbol

Thanx Ziggy...and you are somewhat correct as I was told through another Z4 forum that it was indeed the graphic you had mentioned and it is socket #8 using a 20 AMP fuse. Unfortunately I could not locate the diagram in the fuse area so I was flying blindfolded :banghead:

The fuse box access in the e89 is atrocious. Good luck.

Someday somebody will total one of these cars over a blown fuse :)
