I have been having good luck with the Meguiars Hot Rims also. Walmart is now carrying it.

I use the Bavarian AUtosport Oxo WHeel clenaing brush also. It works very well, even on the 8 million spole M3 wheels.
how about acid? Gold Class?

I was reading another post (I think it was the Eagle A2Z Rocks) and a concern came up about acid (a common trick against brake dust) and apparently Meguiar's does have some acid (but supposedly very little). I think Meguiar's also makes a Gold Class Hot Rims. Has anyone tried it and if so does anyone know why it would be better than plain Hot Rims? I may try some of that Meguiar's All purpose cleaner for my wheels with just a little brake dust that's not baked on and see how it works. The bottle says its super safe and can be used for that.

Yes, that was my post, I contacted a Meguiars rep (E36M3 who visits this board) and he said that Hot wheels has acid but not nearly as much as competitors..that was enough for me to decide to use it in only extreme cases (such as Lil-E's project). Since my wheels and brakedust is so minor due to once-a-week cleaning, I just use the non-acidic wheel cleaners but still possess the Hot Wheels for the extreme cases. It does work very good, again not quite a spray on-hose off product, but damn near it (requires very little elbow work)
best process for painted wheels

If I'm not mistaken, most of the factory wheels are a painted and clear coated finish. What's a good overall process?

After a mild cleaner, is a treament of something like Meguiar's Quick Wax or Quick Detailer in order?
Anyone try Simple Green?

Diluted Simple Green spray should work safely - haven't tried yet on rims
some type of wax that won't melt

On the other thread, Ripsnort and others are suggesting some type of wax or sealer that won't melt from the higher temps. Some suggestions were Meguiar's Polymer Sealer and Bavarian Autosport Wheel Wax. :)

If you're not Auto-X'ing or tracking the car, a polymer will do just fine. Otherwise, if you plan to be 'on those brakes' quite a bit, I'd suggest what Alee suggested, the high temp Wheel Wax.
What do you use to clean your rims? You did a great job.
