When I accelerate hard or climb a hill I hear this clicking in the engine.

Anyone know what is the cause of that? is it have to do with grade of gas as
I use regualr and I know it calls for premium but I've been using regular in all my BMW's.

I am sure, that’s why you have been using regular octane gasoline.

^ What he said. Try using the recommended octane when fueling up next time to see if it addresses your issue.

Careful with the ethanol gas too - this could also do it. See if it does it more on a hot or a cold day. You could try running a tank of non-ethanol gas through it. Some stations sell it.

Don't understand what you mean

Run the correct octane fuel in your car and the pinging/clicking will disappear. And the mpg will improve.
Or
Continue to use regular gas and do not accelerate hard. And avoid steep hills.
