After much troubleshooting and research, I think I found the culprit for the codes mentioned (Brake light, tire light). I was able to clear the codes/lights but when I drove the car, the codes/light popped again. I pull up the passenger carpet to check yaw rate sensor connector and WOW, moisture everywhere (see pic), mild white powder corrosion on the yaw sensor. Also, the thick foam underneath the carpet was soaked with water. No codes prior to storing the car outside a few months with car cover. I used a shop vac to suck the water from foam, removed sensor and cleared it up etc..didn't see any signs of corrosion on the pins. Re-installed same and of course the lights returned. What other components should I check? I ordered another sensor to try before throwing in the towel.

Here are a couple possibilities….

Door strip molding. If you look closely you’ll see holes punched in it and if the lower exterior holes are plugged, water coming down from the upper area travels the molding where holes aren’t plugged and can enter those holes. The water in the interior of the mounding meets the plugged lower ones then drips in to the interior of the car via the holes that face the interior.

That’s one way that I’ve noticed that water will get into the car.

Plugged escape holes on the bottom of the door… plastic membrane not sealed on door framing allowing water to enter… Variations on that…

What a poor place to position a sensor period.

I run Sirius radio car kit plugged into an aux cable that plugs into the radio wiring loom at the rear of the radio.

Retained my Sirius car kit, as not all places in Canada have the cell coverage to run the Sirius app on your phone when you travel. I upgraded to Bluebus …(bluebus.dev) for Bluetooth that gives me handsfree calling and music capability….. play Sirius music via the app as my main music source over my car speakers as I’m in cell coverage with a 25 Gb data plan… as a “free” source from my SUV Sirius subscription.

I ordered an aux cable but the original radio adapter doesn't have the slot for the cable. So, with that said, I ordered a Bluetooth harness to connect between the radio and the car harness. Hopefully, that will workout in my favor.

The aux cable plugs into the back of the wiring loom that plugs into the radio. It was commonly available when I purchased the car 9 years ago. I got mine off of eBay. It consisted of a plug in connector a length of wiring terminating in a female RCA plug. I plugged my Sirius car kit into it… it plays via the Aux selection of my radio. My car is an ‘04

Aux cable plugs into the back of the wiring loom connector to radio which then plugs into the radio…..

It’s not “obvious” where it plugs in… which is the individuals issue.

I had the Audiovox unit myself until the DSP adapter likely crapped out. Then I went to the Bluebus… FWIW I have two complete Audiovox boxes/wiring looms that will work on non DSP Business radios. But with the “spare” DSP adapter now non functional… they are no longer of use to me as I have the Carver 10 speaker DSP radio setup….

If you use the following in eBay search….

bmw auxiliary radio cable

You will come up with different versions of the cable…

This what I got back then….

This is the cable i got and it will not fit in the wiring loom connector that attaches to the back of the radio (3.5MM Female AUX Audio Adapter Cable For BMW Z4 E83 E85 E86 X3 MINI COOPER) https//www.ebay.com/itm/122445284928. I'm not trying to put a square peg in a round hole.😃

Shacho…. I looked up your eBay cable and inserted my vehicle info to check fitment. It should fit as its definitely…. A square peg in a square hole and specific to the E85 platform. If I remember right it fits in the bottom “right corner” and the orientation was specific. Given that your connector is flat on one side…. Make sure that it faces “outboard” of the connector.

There are actually 3 Business radio options that were installed in the Z’s….. In descending order.

DSP 10 speaker Carver system…. (Mine)
HiFi 10 speaker system….
6 speaker system….

You can install single Din radio upgrade (with appropriate cable interface) on the bottom two without touching the amp/speakers.

The DSP/Carver 10 speaker radio is not and I repeat not upgradable. And the replacement amp if your’s is damaged is something north of $1K new… A upgrade of the DSP installed system involves a complete removal and replacement of the amp/wiring and speakers….. This is a major undertaking and is not a simple DIY.

There are many threads on this …..

Business Radio? If so...
I'd like to see a pic of the back of that radio.
I've got a 04 and it's there. I use the old audiovox BT unit... works fine![emoji106]
Pics of my business unit (radio) back and car loom.

I just don't see how it will fit, maybe I need bifocals.

Are you sure you don’t have an aux outlet somewhere on your front dash front area? Think it would be on the small removable panel above the “ashtray”…. It’s very small!

Either the white connector or the black on the 1st picture is plugged into the aux spot …..

I’m going to say it’s the white connector….

Unplug it… plug in your aux connection and try it while out of the dash….

It’s not going to hurt anything to do so…

Does your car have the CD changer in the rear bulkwark cubby?
