We know there is a thread for e90 about coding, so why not another one for e60.
I have coded my M5 with these tools and it is amazing.

the codes I did:

1) Mirrors folding when you lock the car
2) Signals on HUD
3) Welcome Lights (fades in / out, cool!)
4) Added DRL Option in iDrive
5) Legal Discl off (it bothers me when I start the car)
6) TV function (simply wow!)

I am testing/trying for convert the DRL (pre-lci) from ugly high beam to AE. is possible?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "coding," and how you did it? I'd love to have my mirrors fold when I lock my 550i.

 

I think most of this is found in the iDrive Menu. It's pretty straight forward (for the most part). You just go to the iDrive Main menu and press down (instead of NEWS) and it brings up the car options.

Looks like there's plenty of info in there if you already know how to access the code to crack it. I kinda don't have all day to search everywhere, though, to understand HOW to access the codes. What's the interface to the car?

Is there a sticky or FAQ anywhere that describes how to get started understanding this?

 

I'd love to have my mirrors fold at all. There is a button there on the drivers window switch plate, but it does nothing.????

Hate to ressurect an old thread, but what software did you use for this? I just purchased the cable and have an extensive background in computer networking.

Yeah I've been on there and the reviews are mixed with hit or miss results. Which is why I wanted to know what people have been using that got successful results.

 

everybody uses the same tools. with the exception being the new kid on the block Carly with some limited coding ability.

NCSexpert, tool32, winkfp. then there are the diagnostic software, INPA, INSTA, DIS,Progman, Reingold,

in order to get any of these to do what you want them to do you must understand how to get the correct modules loaded and extract the coding to modify. it is not a simple plug in and scroll through a bunch of options like picking what to eat at Sheetz. if your cable does not come with the software, then you are going to need to hunt the torrent sites to grab the software and setup a computer to use the software. sometimes this is easy, other times it is difficult as the software may not be complete.

for my e39 i did it all for free minus the cost of the cable. i think $10.

for my e61 i bought the software with the cable. i think $50 as i could not get my working e39 setup to work on my e61. sometimes it just is like that with cables.

I am playing with my Carly and have done the following:
Turn signal OneTouch 5 Times
No warning massage in idrive (legal disclaimer off, sped up the iDrive system significantly!)

Trying to figure out the DVD in motion, telephone ringtone, DRL with AE on bright (mine seem very dim), and the welcome lights with AE on bright.

 

That is what I purchased was the Carly cable and I have the light version of the software. I'm having connection issues with it, so I think I may need the Bluetooth version. Which one are you using? The cable or Bluetooth, and are you using the Carly app for the mobile phone?

 

I have the bluetooth Carly adapter with Android phone. I had a terrible time trying to connect yesterday, with turning each one on and off, and then I went into the Carly software (I bought the full version, btw) and selected the "enhanced communication setting and the normal connection speed connection. Now, I have no issues with the connection. Hope this helps, but keep asking questions until we figure this out. I'm going back out now to try to figure out the DVD in motion, maybe I just need a newer DVD? Here's hoping...

 

That helps a ton, I just returned the cable and ordered the bluetooth adapter. One more question. Are the codes you are programming already built in or do you have to enter them manually?

 

Had typed out a message but it disappeared? Anyway, the Carly bluetooth thingamajiggy and software come with a ton of coding options, therefore no need to enter anything manually.
1. Connect to the bluetooth adapter. May take some cajooling/prayer. Once connected, it should automatically read your "last 7" and the engine type.
2. Select "coding"
3. The adapter will read which ECUs that it can communicate with
4. Select your ECU (LMA, CIC, KOMBI, etc) of choice for coding
5. Play with all of your options until your car is personalized to your liking
6. Come back and share what you've learned for the rest of us!

 

is Carly only limited to LCI for the coding features?

 

I have a pre-LCI 2007 550i manufactured June 2006 (early delivery) and Carly works perfectly. Some of the LCI options will not work, especially in the Lighting category since I have LM1 and some options are not available as in the LM2 LCI version. Howie35CT, if you ever get DVD in motion figured out, please let me know. I've tried just about everything to no avail.

Select your car model, and there will be an extensive listing of items that you are able to code, provided that you buy the Pro version of the software.

 

MSAMMY, no, I did not figure out DVD in motion. As a matter of fact, I cannot get anything other than my Nav DVD to work in that slot, which is a HUGE BUMMER. I thought since it said it was a DVD player, that it would actually play a DVD, even from being parked. I'll keep trying, but I don't think my car has the capability to play a DVD through to my CCC (car manufactured 03/06, therefore also pre-LCI). Agreed with you that we have LM1 and our lighting options are limited. I really want my AE to be much brighter than they are.

Does anyone have any other favorite e60 codings? I really like the 5 blinks on the turn signal and removing the stupid legal disclaimer.

 

You need to have CIC to be able to code DVD in-motion, not possible with CCC unit

 

impac4000: The Carly GEN 2 shows up on my car with an ECU menu of "CCC", and from there it provides the coding for DVD in motion. It allows you to program the DVD in Motion from parked, walking speed, or no limitations, if memory serves (I cannot open the menu right now as I am sitting at my desk and not in the car with Carly turned on).

 

Thank you guys for the help. I needed the Carly Bluetooth adapter to make it all work. Got the pro software version from a friend in one of the other groups. Got everything programmed except for the tire psi. It was so easy!!!

 

Anyone local in Los Angeles area for CCC coding ???? I bought a Unit from a 2009 for my 2006 M5, and doesn't seem to work properly!

Hi everyone,

my oncle has a e60 from 2006. After a Softwareupdate from BMW, his iDrive Unit has Splitcreen enabled by default. It is not possible to get rid of it in the menu.
So is it possible by coding?

Split screen is one of the few flaws of the older CCC system. The split screen is part of this system. Even when in navigation mode, you will see a split screen of two maps. Very strange that BMW did not pay attention to this small detail when designing the system... It's not possible to code it, at least with standard tools like Carly.
