Hi this is my first post and first BMW....

Have been doing a bit of reading but can not get a solid yes or no to the question i have.

I recently purchased my first BMW which is a F30 2012 320D Modern Line with business nav and bluetooth calling only, I don't think i have a coms box in the trunk as the space i think it should be in is empty. So my question is can i do any coding to enable bluetooth audio streaming? I did a break down of my vin and with all the info i see i have a 6NH 606 set up, Can anyone assist?

 

In a 2013 F30, if you have no Combox, then you cannot get A2DP Bluetooth Audio Streaming from factory hardware.

I have a F31 -13, build date 2013-05-08.
I have no navigation and no combox in the trunk. I do have 6NH and bluetooth handsfree is working.
As I understood cars manufactured from 2013-07-01 have the NBT, so I don't? Or I might have?
I have not yet ordered the ENET cable so can't look in the software.

I have recently bought a F20, 2012. It does not have sat nav or the combox when I checked under the boot carpet. From the VIN search it has the following:

I'd like to be able to play music from my iphone via bluetoth so am looking at options for retrofitting the combox. Does anyone know the price for this if I paid someone?

I can see combox's on eBay for £60-200 but I'm not sure which code I need. Also is it easy or quite difficult to install it myself and code it if I buy the cable and download software? Also not sure which cables I would need?

I appear to have partially enabled enhanced Bluetooth. My phone pairs but I cannot select the Bluetooth audio button. When I press on it it never becomes selected. Other office functions are working fine such as messaging and the phone itself. I've tried with 2 different phones with the same results. My BT settings only show Phone Audio, Message Access and Contacts, media audio doesn't appear.

Any ideas?

Yes, you have NBT Head Unit, so you can Code EBT.

I do not understand what you ask. If this is factory option, there is nothing to Activate. Juts use the features.

The coding has proven ineffective as I can't see anything different from the part when I had 6NH.

You cannot always tell from just VIN, but PM me your short VIN (last 7), and I will look at it.

If you cannot code EBT, it is due to lack of hardware, so you would need to retrofit required OEM hardware (Combox or proper Head Unit) or seek an Aftermarket EBT solution.

 

Im not sure if I have 6NS in my F15. I can't see it on the FA, but I can stream the music, connect 2 phones at same time etc. If I add 6NS and code head unit, do I lose all the FDL coding I've done before?

Your car has HU ENTRY Head Unit. EBT is only possible if car has a standalone Combox Module, and I cannot determine that from your VIN. You need to read SVT with E-Sys, and see if CMB_MEDIA shows, or check Boot of car and see if Combox is physically present.

I have coded EBT and able to stream spotify from my mobile to the car but something missing is I'm not able to view and stream the artwork. Am I missing anything in coding? I have activated ENT_BTAS_* related functions but still not successful. Any advise? FYI, I'm having HU_NBT. Thanks

I have a 2013 F31 and wanted to get the Enhanced Bluetooth Audio Streaming. I pulled backed the boot liner but found something different to the Silver Combox everyone else has been posting.

Is this a combox ? Im a little confused!

No. 84109329339 is a TCB, which is Telematics (SIM Card) module. If car has TCB, Combox functions would be integrated into the Head Unit if car has ENTRYNAV or NBT Head Unit.

I have exactly the same box on my F33 (2014 428i convertible). I'd assumed this is where the SIM goes for the connected drive services (it seems to have an IMEI number on the sticker) and that the Combox was no longer required as built into the head unit. Will be good to get a correct view though...
